Who actually performs the cleaning for you guys?

Industrial Strength Cleaning consists of a network of pre-screened subcontractors whom have proven themselves as the absolute top performing cleaners, “industry experts” as we call them. The average consumer would never know what to look for in a good cleaner, all he/she may know when booking is how nice or confident the cleaner is over the phone. We’ve been in the carpet cleaning business a very long time and know exactly what to look for when screening and accepting contractors, this includes: criminal background, carpet cleaning equipment, proper technique, proper licensing, actual experience, and reputation.

Prior to your service technician arriving, what preparations can I make so that the cleaning process goes as smooth as possible?

Although not always possible, our service techs ideally like to have all areas to be cleaned cleared from at least the small and breakable objects. An empty driveway to park our van is also nice. We typically pre-vacuum areas with visible debris, if you'd like to save a few bucks you can pre-vacuum prior to our arrival. If you think you may have a special circumstance and/or additional cleaning need please let us know prior to your appointment. Also remember payment is due upon completion, so please have your designated form of payment ready.

What's the recommended method for cleaning most carpets and what's the difference between hot water extraction versus chemical and/or dry cleaning?

The hot water extraction method is the only method Industrial Strength Cleaning uses not only because the worlds largest carpet manufacturer (Shaw Industries) recommend this method but it also means that as less chemicals are needed your carpet is cleaned down to the deepest of fibers in an environmentally friendly way.

Of course not every situation calls for the same cleaning method but 8 out of 10 times you'll be better off with hot water extraction. If we believed otherwise we would sell our hot water extraction unit and get what's best for our customers. Anyone doubting this should try washing their hair without water for a week. Chemical or dry cleaning is only necessary in highly specific situations.

How often should I have my carpet professionally cleaned?

Once a year at a minimum or when your socks start getting dirty for no other reason then walking on your carpet. Also, if you have indoor pets your cleaning intervals may be increased as well.

At what point should I consider replacing my trashed carpets instead of attempting to clean them?

If they're torn you'll have to obtain some matching carpet for a repair else replace the entire area. Also, most carpet repairs will not be unnoticeable. If the carpet is not torn but extremely dirty, here is the borderline point in which you'll have to make a judgment call
Beyond Cleaning?

we attempted to clean this mess as a demonstration to our customers the best they can possibly expect from a cleaning. We actually brought lot of color back (may work for a rental), however as you can see the carpet won't even come close to full restoration.

What's the difference between hiring a professional versus renting equipment and doing the cleaning myself?

The maintenance brochure published by the world's largest carpet manufacturer, Shaw Industries, recommends professional carpet cleaning over “Do-It-Yourself” because of the potential problems that can occur from using rental equipment - such as yellowing, over wetting, fiber tip damage, severe re-soiling, overuse of detergents, etc.

Mostly all rental units available do not adequately clean and may actually damage the carpet.

Will having my carpets professionally cleaned cause them to wear out sooner?

No way! Leaving dirt in a carpet is what causes wear. Dirt particles have jagged edges, which cause small tears and abrasions on carpet fibers as people walk. Over time, these cuts and scratches present themselves as worn areas of carpet.

Also note, a DIY'er can cause all sorts of damage, like leaving the carpets too wet due to a lack of extraction power, using chemicals not as intended, and improper agitation.

Why such a big difference between minimum service charges?

In order to maintain our low rates, we simply cannot send our techs out traveling long distances for small jobs. Our techs are dispatched from Elk Grove, CA and great consideration was given for our customers best interests which is ultimately being able to give top notch service at discounted rates.  For the same reasons, it's also why we prefer to give realistic estimates over the phone.

Why do you charge a flat rate per room size even if there's beds and/or furniture making the actual area of carpet to be cleaned much smaller?

As the room size gets smaller and furniture starts to crowd the room, traffic patterns increase dramatically along with soil build up. Not only does it take more time to navigate through furniture it's often necessary to use more agitation to clean these areas.

What's the difference between the spot stain removal included with your basic carpet cleaning and the stain removal you extra charge for?

In our pre-spray and spotting stage we often use different chemicals for each stain and let them sit for a few minutes before using our hot steam extraction. Using this process alone we'll get most (if not all) stains out, but if there's a stubborn stain that requires significantly more attention we often must use a few of our specialized techniques. These techniques can include using a heat transfer to remove synthetic stains or using specialized chemicals with multiple passes which takes additional resources.

How long does it take to clean my carpets and must I be present during the entire appointment?

It varies upon based on requirements, but a typical 2000 square feet five bedroom home could take around two hours. We don't mind house sitting while we're working, about half our customers stay and the other half leave.

Do you guys use the powerful oxidizers offered by other carpet cleaners?

Absolutely and at no extra charge. Upon our arrival we assess each and every job to determine the optimal chemical mix.

Should I pre-vacuum prior to my carpet cleaning appointment?

If you have the time and a good and well maintained vacuum cleaner yes, else leave it to us. Pre-vacuuming is almost always necessary prior to performing a professional steam cleaning and for moderate debris we do charge a small fee to pre-vacuum as we're primarily there to remove the deep soiling, stains, odor, etc..

How long does it take for my carpets to dry?

Dry times will vary depending on factors like tempurature, post air circulation, and severity of carpet soiling. Optimal dry times can be acheived on warm days with good circulation after standard carpet cleaning maintenance which can be in as little as one hour. Deep soiling (hence more flushing), cold tempuratures, and little air circulation can push a dry time to four to six hours or more.

In reqards to your pet urine treatment, at what point does it make sense to replace the carpet instead of having you guys flush and extract it?

If you believe carpet and padding is saturated with urine in more than 10-15% of the area/room at hand then it typically makes more sense to replace the entire carpet and padding.
